What is it?
Mahāmudrā, or the Great Seal, refers to the nature of all phenomena that is figuratively stamped upon everything as a guarantee that nothing exists the fantasized, impossible way that it appears. It includes the sophisticated systems of meditation to on the conventional and ultimate natures of the mind.
The main instructions focus on techniques for meditating upon the mind in order to achieve one-pointed concentration and attain a realization of the mind’s ultimate nature. The direct, unmistaken antidote to ignorance, to suffering, and to the unenlightened state of existence is Mahāmudrā meditation.
Ven. René Feusi, one of the most senior monastics in the FPMT, will lead this retreat focusing on putting into practice the Mahamudra instructions given by Gyumed Khensur Rinpoche in his commentary (Oct. 22-26). It is an excellent way to experientially gain an understanding of Mahamudra, resting in the clear light mind.
This retreat is not open to those who are doing the practice of Shugden (which has been strongly discouraged by His Holiness the Dalai Lama).
